1. The Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest collection of coral reefs in the world, spanning over 1,400 miles. It’s so large that it can be seen from space, and it’s among one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. It is the place to go diving, offering a one-of-a-kind display of underwater life. It is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the North-East coast of Australia. Spanning over an area of approximately 344,400 sq. kilometres, it is the world biggest single structure made by living organisms. One can go for diving and snorkelling to get the fish-eye view of the reef and then experience the birds-eye view by air tours.

2. The Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA

The Grand Canyon in Arizona is a natural formation distinguished by layered bands of red rock, revealing millions of years of geological history in cross-section. Vast in scale, the canyon averages 10 miles across and a mile deep along its 277-mile length. Much of the area is a national park, with Colorado River white-water rapids and sweeping vistas. Even the most sceptical of travellers become awestruck at the sight of the Grand Canyon's massive expanse of gorges, ridges and rock formations. So simply enjoy the view – from a variety of vantage points – is an activity that could take hours. One of the best ways to admire the canyon is on a hiking tour that takes you to the bottom: Some of the best trails include the Bright Angel or Rim trails on the South Rim. Rafting the Colorado River is another option to enjoy your day.

Its name, which translates to “temple city” in the Khmer language of the region, references the fact it was built by Emperor Suryavarman II, who ruled the region from 1113 to 1150, as the state temple and political centre of his empire.
